The teaching objectives of the department of Interior Design are to offer fundamental interior design training and to encourage students to discover, analyze, and solve the problems independently. Moreover, students’ abilities to carry out the practical training are emphasized as well.
The curriculum of the department of Interior Design is to enrich the profession in the practice of Interior Design. It also encourages philosophical explorations, ethical responsibility, aesthetic expressions, and practical applications in line with professional standards. The department offers courses in space design, design theory, interior environment, and professional practice.
At the present, there are eighteen full-time faculty members in the department of Interior Design. Four of them have the degree of Ph.D.; five of the other members have been working on their doctorate degrees. All the teachers here possess different specialties. Our department now has six laboratories: Environmental Healthy and Energy Efficiency New Technology Lab, Universal Design and Experiment Lab, Green Material Interior Design and Finish Technology Lab, and Daily Life Digital and Smart Home Technology Lab.

INDUSTRY-ACADEMY COOPERATION
The Department of Interior Design emphasizes the integration of theory and practice and aims to promote the industry-academy cooperation. The faculty's international business background and experience, their active interaction with the industry, and their capabilities in the professional practice are all emphasized. The department always values the cooperation and support from the private sectors and connects all the industrial cooperation resources to the curriculum, teaching, and research.
It is known that the industrial and commercial development in Taiwan has been prosperous, where government and non-profit organizations are of a great number. The background and economic development in the modern society are favorable to the department in reinforcing our external relations.
The Dual Mentor system is employed to promote students' career plans and achievement. Students receive guidance in preparing for various examinations of the professional certificates and/or licenses, and receive counseling and assistance for the advanced studies and job placements.
The curriculum design of the department of Interior Design is to equip students with the professional techniques. The core courses emphasize the interior design skills and the construction management, which aims to cultivate students’ professional talents in the fields of interior design and fine arts, as well as to utilize students’ practical management skills from the fundamental training. The courses provide students with three professional areas in order to build greater competencies, including interior & spatial design skills, construction engineering & management, and art & furniture. The department aims to stay abreast with the social trends, establish global networks, and satisfy people's needs through interior design.
The Department of Interior Design reinforces the professional skills and academic performance in interior design, construction engineering & management, and art & furniture. The goal of the research and development is to connect the current development of the national policies with the local demands. The department has extensive interactions and contacts with the enterprise for expanding student's knowledge, cognition, and perspectives in interior design.
